Key West Inshore Report April 21, 2001 A cold front swept through the Keys on Tuesday, messing up what was a great early Tarpon season. It got really cold on Wed. and Thurs. and the water temp dipped by 15-20 degrees fahrenheit in some areas! This puts the fish down bigtime and in the case of many Tarpon, sent them packing to deep water reefs. To add insult to the injurious cold weather, we have been a bit windy (20 nauts) during the past 4 days and the winds are forecast to keep blowing until Wednesday. When the winds subside and the flats warm up again, then we will be back into Tarpon season full swing! Before the cold snap, angler Martin Ward demonstrated the "down and dirty" on this 90-100 pound silver king! |
