Port O'Connor Inshore Report
November 15, 2000

I had a group of 16 coming in for 3 days and was out scouting; just making sure fish were still where they should be. South shore of W Matagorda Bay I made one wade of about 400 yds and ended with 8 trout to 24"..."slutty sarah" was still on track.

A cold front was coming in and we didn't know how severe it would be. It turned out that temperature drop was quite severe. On monday the wind was gusting to 25 from the NE and it was cold, the low was 41. We racked back and played cards and ate, and ate, and ate, breakfast, lunch, lunch, and dinner.

The wind was still up a bit in the am but we were going fishin'! We ran 5 boats and I had 4 of poc's finest. On the other boats I sent 4 boats in search of protected water for reds/black drum/and bay snapper and I (like a big dummy) went for trout. We found 47.5 degree water in one of my favorite holes and continued the search throughout the day. Found lots of bait/birds but no trout. Found lots of 55 to 57 degree water. Fortunately, the other boats hit paydirt with limits of reds lots of black drum and bay snapper. The wind needs to come down a bit and temp need to moderate. Another front is due to hit on Thursday, have to redo Friday and Saturday trip... 'tis that time of year'.

Many thanx to Chad, Andy, Tommy, and Code Man.. See you on the water.
